The holidays have been painful for me the last six years.  I moved to Pasadena for a boyfriend, and that lasted only six months but I stayed anyway.   Meanwhile, my parents broke up back in Cincinnati, dad moved to Kentucky, mom stayed there, my brother is somewhere in Texas and my sister phones in from wherever she and her motorcycle gang happen to be.

OK, so life in Pasadena is everything a girl from Cleveland hoped it would be.  But a series of unfortunate events has made things a little more difficult than my husband and I expected when we landed here in 2002.
